More on the Blockchain

Blockchain technology is an example of ‘platformization’ in the Digital Future. Blockchains decentralize ledgers and other forms of administration where transactions are managed and maintained. The theory behind Blockchain is interesting and opens new opportunities. In reality there is still a lot to improve on the Blockchain technology before it will be mature enough for more wide-spread use. The high amount of energy that is needed to mine bitcoins and the many examples of criminality and fraud involved with bitcoins might discourage further developments as well.
